

McCurdy, Sarah Doris Brett Strong, 85, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012 in Montgomery. Born in Florala, Alabama, she grew up in Robertsdale and was a 1949 graduate of the University of Aabama. Doris lived most of her adult life in Montgomery and Lowndesboro and has been a member of Frazer United Methodist Church since July 27, 1975. She was a devoted member of the Jack Thompson Sunday School Class and a member of the Lowndes County Historical Society. Doris was a loving wife, mother and grand-mother. She was preceded in death by her husbands: Quentin R. Strong, MD and Lewis H. McCurdy, Sr.; Sons: George Q. Strong and Lewis H. McCurdy, Jr., DVM. Survivors include her children: Henry W. Strong, Sr., (Susan) of Mountain Brook; Elaine Acree (Allen) of Madison; Nancy McCurdy of Brownsboro; Billy McCurdy (Pam) of Lowndesboro; David C. McCurdy of Pike Road; Sisters: Helen Griffin and Barbara Parr (Frank); Grandchildren: Whit Strong (Heather); Lewis H. McCurdy, III, MD (Eleanor); Elizabeth M. Koisch (John); Will McCurdy and Mary Owens McCurdy; 7 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Leak Memory Chapel with visitation beginning at 1 pm. Rev. Rhon Carlton officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Whit Strong, Lewis McCurdy, III, MD, Will McCurdy, Cas McCurdy, Keith McCurdy, and Ed McCurdy.
