Doris Murphy McKemy

Doris Murphy McKemy, 89, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Thursday, April 1, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Leak-Memory Chapel with Dr. Rick Marshall and Rev. Larry Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Mrs. McKemy was born in Lee County to W.T. and Neva Murphy and was Valedictorian of her class at Beulah High School in 1939. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Willie J. Murphy, Daniel K. Murphy, H. Clayton Murphy, Paul E. Murphy; and sister, Dovie M. Parker. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Elden A. McKemy; daughter, Vernelle Brannen (Bruce); sons, Lloyd McKemy (Leda), Erwin McKemy; brother, Jesse B. Murphy; grandchildren, Keith McKemy (JoAnn), Byron McKemy, Cindy Cassady (Joe), Brandon McKemy (Staci), and Jason McKemy; great-grandchildren, Cailyn McKemy, Cale McKemy, Clayton Woodham, Kursten McKemy, Christian McKemy, and Nicholas Cassady; and numerous nieces and nephews. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family, her church family at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, and her many friends. Pallbearers will be Keith McKemy, Byron McKemy, Jason McKemy, Cale McKemy, Clayton Woodham, and Bruce Brannen. Honorary pallbearers will be John Oliver and Roland Fletcher.
