Elaine Louise Landry

Elaine was born in Wichita, KS, and moved to Vici, OK when she was just two years old. She grew up on a farm and told stories of bathing in a washtub, pumping water from the well, and studying by lamp-light. She’d milk the cows before school, and afterwards, she’d have to gather eggs from the chickens. She moved to Amarillo, TX for high school where she played basketball. Elaine was a faithful member of Dalraida Baptist Church for 52 years. She taught the Joy Sunday School Class for over 40 years. She also was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) for over 50 years. She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association for over 65 years.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Andrea Smith and her loving husband of 69 years, George Landry. She is survived by her five children, Robert Landry (Annette), of Boulder City, Nevada, Cindy Heufel (John), of Montgomery, Michael Landry (Dee), of Prescott, AZ, Richard Landry (Lynne), of Titus, AL and Kathy Madaris (Terry) of Montgomery. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their appreciation to Chanda Crawford for her loving care of “Miss Elaine”.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Dalraida Baptist Church, both located in Montgomery.

Her celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 15th, 2024 at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL. Visitation is 1-2 pm, with service to follow at 2. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
