Elbert Jack Shamburger

SHAMBURGER, Elbert Jack went home to be with his Lord on March 29, 2012. He was born July 21, 1936, in Butler, Al. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Eva (Allen) Shamburger. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia Jacobs Shamburger; son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Robin Shamburger, Montgomery; son, Steve Shamburger, Orlando, Fl; daughter, Susanne Shamburger, Montgomery; three grandchildren, Austin Shamburger, Montgomery, Amber Shamburger and Justin Shamburger, Auburn; one step-grandson, Kyle Dever, Montgomery. He was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School Class of 1954, attended API (Auburn University), and was a graduate of the Alabama Military Academy. He served 37 years in the Alabama National Guard and Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was employed by the State of Alabama Highway Department Design Bureau where he worked for 36 years and retired as a Civil Engineer IV. The funeral will be held at 3pm on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Dalraida United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Deabler officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Dalraida United Methodist Church or Dalraida Choir, 3817 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery, AL 36109.
