Elizabeth Ballard Bearden

Elizabeth Brooks Bearden, age 96, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 10, 2020. The funeral will be December 17, 2020 at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd., Montgomery, AL. Visitation is 11:00 – 12:00 a.m. with Services following at 12 noon. Burial is in the adjacent Greenwood Cemetery.

Born in Montgomery, AL Mrs. Bearden was the eldest child of the late James Edgar Brooks Sr. and Susie Mae Cooper Brooks. Mrs. Bearden grew up in the Highland Park area of Montgomery and later in life served as a Sunday School teacher at Highland Ave. Baptist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by husband, Clarence C. Bearden Sr., sisters, Dorothy Robinson and Christine Bridges, and brother James Edgar Books, Jr. She is survived by sons Clarence Bearden Jr. and Joseph A. Bearden both of Prattville, AL, daughters, Margaret Slaughter (Bob) of Steele, AL and Ann Bearden of Montgomery, AL, four granddaughters, Tina Fortenberry (Donny), Trussville, AL, Elizabeth Fuller, Pell City, AL, Shannon Longtine (Jeff), Pensacola, FL, Stephine Luckey, Pickerington, OH, one grandson, Timothy Slaughter (Julie), Mountain View, AR, six great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Gloria J. Meriwether of Montgomery, AL and one brother, John C. Brooks (Annette) of Wetumpka, AL and several nieces and nephews.
