Elizabeth “Beth” Harris Garcia, 64, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Beth was born on February 9, 1962, to the late Nick W. Harris and Winifred “Wynn” Harris. She was married to the love of her life and college sweetheart Frank for 40 years, and together they have four children and three grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Beth attended Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, AL and went on to graduate from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, the Rehabilitation club, and played intramural sports. She served as assistant activities director at the Altamont Retirement Home before having her first child. Being a stay-at-home mother, however, was her true passion and calling. She was constantly on the go whether it be to dance recitals, baseball games, practices, church, carpool lines, or other activities. She was known for her infectious laughter, keen sense of humor, genuineness, and kindness.
She loved horses, cooking, playing piano, exercising, fishing, ballroom dancing with her sweetheart, vegetable gardening, and baking homemade bread. She was an avid crosscountry runner and ran several races and half marathons. She enjoyed being a part of her running group, lovingly referred to as the “Sole Sisters.” She was a faithful member of Frazer Church and the Harbor Lights Sunday School Class. She also served in Vacation Bible School, the student ministry, and enjoyed Bible Study Fellowship. She was devoted to studying God’s word and allowed it to transform her life. Her love for The Lord was evident in the way she loved others and served God.
She was preceded in death by her father Nick W. Harris and mother Winifred “Wynn” Harris. She is survived by her husband Frank Garcia and their four children Michael Garcia (Carrie), Mary Beth Helton (Lonnie), Bryan Garcia, and Anna Garcia; three grandchildren Virginia Wynn Garcia, Grace Louise Garcia, and James Helton; sister Kay Wherry (Steve); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
We would like to express a special thank you to Beth’s wonderful caregiver and friend Jenny Anderson with Home Helpers Home Care. We would also like to thank our Frazer Church family and our many friends and family members who have shared in her care.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14 at 9:30 a.m. in the main sanctuary at Frazer Church, 6000 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, AL 36117. A celebration of life service will follow at 11:00 a.m. The graveside service will be held Sunday, February 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Providence Church, 1540 Providence Road, Titus, AL 36080 with a reception immediately following in the church dining hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD).
