Elizabeth Bass Pate, 61, passed away on June 2, 2022 surrounded by family at USA Health University Hospital from a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of Mitchell Pate. They were childhood sweethearts and shared over 40 years of marriage together.
Born November 10, 1960 in Montgomery, AL she was the daughter of Ray D. Bass and Clara (Snookie) Smith Bass. She graduated from Lowndes Academy and moved on to graduate from Troy University in Montgomery with a degree in Nursing. She built a selfless and fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse, and finally retired from the Auburn University Medical Clinic in 2018.
Beth was an active member of Church of the Highlands, involved in various small groups and assisted with the prayer team. She enjoyed spending time with her precious grandsons, baking, kayaking, raising chickens, writing poems and stories, and renovating their new home in Mobile. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her kind and calming voice, her strong love for Jesus, her love of cooking and sharing recipes, being the best listener, and her beautiful gift of writing.
She is survived by her husband Mitchell, children Mitch Pate (Brianne, Joseph, James) and Susanna Camp (Hunter, Everett), mother Clara (Snookie) Bass, siblings Tom Bass and Joan Brunson, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Ray D. Bass.
This world is not our home and we find comfort knowing that she is no longer suffering. How beautiful heaven must be now that she is there. Take a moment to hug your loved ones for time waits for no one.
Graveside services will be Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Oakview Cemetery in Lowndesboro. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Bass, John Brunson, Randall Ennis, Garrett McCurdy, Cas McCurdy and Lewis McCurdy.
