

Bazzell, Ethleen Boyd, 85, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama died May 30, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family after a short illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles L. Bazzell, her parents Dempsey D. and Ruth Armstrong Boyd, her brothers David (Sara), Clower (Margarete), and Warner Boyd; and her sisters Minnie Lou Berrey (Thomas), Sue Drake (Bob), Ann Shaw (Clyde), and Ruth Preble (Bill). Minnie Lou’s son Tommy Berrey, grandson Lee Berrey, as well as great-nephew David Grant Selvage also predeceased her. She is survived by her niece, Patricia Boyd Killough, and her husband, John. Her goddaughter/great niece, Stephanie Killough Selvage, and her children, Daniel and Sarah Kate Selvage. She is also survived by Warner’s wife, Margaret Boyd, and their children Debbie Partridge (Gary) and Bobby Boyd (Mickey Ann), and their children and grandchildren. Minnie Lou’s daughter, Jenelle Jones (Dewey), and her children and grandchildren. Sue’s sons, Ken (Robbie) and Ross Drake of Miami Lakes, Florida, and Ken’s children and one grandchild. David’s children, Carl Boyd (Faye), Terry Boyd (Tammy), Connie Mainor (Skip), and their children and grandchildren. Ann’s daughter Judy Frizzell (Bobby) of Tennessee, and her children and grandchildren. Tommy’s daughter Carol Berrey Richey and her children and grandchildren also survive Ethleen.
Ethleen was born in Sprague, Alabama, on September 6, 1939. She graduated from Montgomery County High School and then attended Massey Draughn Business College. She met Charles while working downtown, and they were married on January 24, 1958, until he died in 1987. Although Charles and Ethleen never had children of their own, they were exceptionally close to their nieces and nephews. Ethleen worked for over 45 years as a legal secretary for Jim Scott at Capell Howard Law Firm before her retirement. She was a member of Eastmont Baptist Church for over 30 years.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, Angela Gordine, Amanda Whitfield, Home Care Assistance of Montgomery, and Southern Care Hospice of Montgomery for the excellent care shown to Ethleen during her illness and passing.
Services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Leak Memory Chapel. Visitation will be one hour before the services. A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her husband, Charles.
Pallbearers will be John Killough, Carl Boyd, Terry Boyd, Bobby Boyd, Daniel Selvage, and Mason Williams.
