She was born on March 31, 1924 to Buck Hannon Evans and Flora Minnie (Cox) Evans of Barbour County Alabama. Her mother passed away shortly after she was born and she was raised by her loving stepmother, Maggie Evans and her father.
She is survived by her son Rickey (Joanne) Aldape, Stepson David (Julia) Aldape, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, dear friend Steve Strickland (who was like a son to her) and her loving cat, Precious.
She was preceded in death by her husband “Sandy” Santiago Aldape; her first husband Shelburn Wright and son “Gene” Nealy Eugene Wright; stepsons Jim Aldape, Joe Luis Aldape, Salvador Aldape; sister Odie and brothers Simon, Emmet, Clemmet and Pete; many nieces and nephews; and her loving dog Bea Bea.
A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, she spent many hours preparing delicious “down-home” country meals, canning and freezing fresh vegetables and putting up preserves so that she could provide the best for her family. She was a wonderful cook and especially loved to cook for family gatherings.
Prior to being a homemaker, she worked at Hollywood Candy Company and then at Brockway Glass Company for many years.
She was so precious to her family and friends and was known for her kindness and generosity in helping others. She was an actively involved member of Eastmont Baptist Church for nearly 50 years.
Services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery, Alabama with Pastor Frank Bowling officiating.
