Franklin R. Evans

Franklin Roosevelt Evans, born in Wetumpka, AL on July 12, 1933, passed away at the age of 83 on Saturday, September 10, 2016. He graduated from Benjamin Russell High School in Alex City and later worked as a Commercial Artist. Mr. Evans was a Southern Baptist, a member of Alabama Republican Party, and a founder of the Alabama James Gang. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evie Cousins Evans, and Thomas William Evans. Survivors include his children, Frank and Charlotte Evans, Jeff and Darleen Evans, Tom and Cheryl Evans, Tim and Teri Evans, all of Montgomery; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Rudolph Evans of Alex City, AL; sister, Frances Evans Whetstone of Sylacauga Alabama. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM, Monday, September 12, 2016 at Leak Memory Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the funeral home. The burial will be at Hillview Memorial Park, Alexander City, AL. Leak Memory Chapel is directing. Pallbearers will be Marc Evans, Jeffrey Evans, John Michael Evans, Shane Watson, Gene Watson, and William Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be Benjamin Evans and Cody Watson.
