Grace Herrod Faulkner

Grace Herrod Faulkner, age 99, died Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at her residence in Montgomery, Alabama. Grace was born in 1924 and raised in rural Autauga County outside of Billingsley, Alabama, to the parents of Claud and Arrie Herrod and had eleven brothers and sisters.

In her later years, Grace was a member of Heritage Baptist Church. She was previously a member of McGehee Road Baptist Church, Forest Park Baptist Church (more than 50 years), Calvary Baptist Church, and Indian Grave Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Massey Draughon Business School, located in Montgomery; a “Rosie the Riveter” member serving in Childersburg, Alabama at the Alabama Army Ammunition plant during WW2; a seamstress; homemaker; and retiree of the State of Alabama with the Alabama Department of Industrial Relations.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband Amos Milton Faulkner, daughter Joan Faulkner, and son Jeffrey Claud Faulkner (Amy Faulkner White). She is survived by her children Jackie (Jim) Brush, Judy (Drew) Reid, Gary (Sandi) Faulkner; seven grandchildren Melanie Barton, Rebekkah (Tim) Hess, Michael (Trinity) Brush, Stephanie (Brian) Hammond, Ann Faulkner, John Faulkner, Forrest Faulkner; and one sister, Saranel Blackburn. Grace was also blessed with seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Leak Memory Chapel with Reverend Arthur Long officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. with service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Faulkner, Shayne Herrod, Allen Herrod, Michael Brush, John Faulkner and Forrest Faulkner. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital which was one of Grace’s favorite charities.
