Harold Helms

Edward Harold Helms, age 82, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Born in Blue Springs, Alabama, he was preceded in death by his parents, Bunyan Davie Helms and Nancy Emmie Helms; and his siblings, Melvin Helms, Fred Helms, Vela Zimmerman, Bennett Helms, Travis Helms, Myrtis Tew, and Gladys Scott.

Harold is survived by his wife of 53 years, Shirley Jean McKenzie Helms; his son, Stewart (Amie) Helms; and his grandchildren, James, Brittaney, Alex and Zoey; and great grandchild, Walker. A host of surviving siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins, who will cherish his memory.

After 10 years in the Air Force, Harold worked on helicopters in Fort Rucker. Later he transitioned to Dixie Electric and finished his working years as a maintenance supervisor with J R Smith manufacturing. He will be remembered as a hard worker and an encourager to those around him.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service for Harold will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109. A processional to the cemetery site will form in Leak Memory Chapel parking lot around 1:30 pm.
