

Truman McCord, age 90, of Montgomery, passed away on July 11, 2024. Born on May 12, 1934, in Coosa County, Truman was the beloved son of the late Sam and Jewel McCord.
Truman, affectionately known as "T-Mac" or "Uncle Tru," served in the United States Air Force, with deployments in North Africa. Throughout his life, he sustained a career with the State of Alabama and worked as a contractor for the government.
A devoted husband, Truman shared 61 wonderful years with the love of his life, Martha. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Truman was the proud father of his son, Matthew McCord, and the adored grandfather of Gavin McCord, who brought immense joy to his life.
Truman was a man of deep faith and a dedicated member of Forrest Park Baptist Church, Blue Ridge Baptist Church, and for 41 devoted years, Capital Heights Baptist Church, where he actively participated in singing and occasionally leading the choir. In his younger years, Truman enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and he was a lifelong fan of gardening, the Atlanta Braves, and Alabama football.
His kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith were a testament to his character and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Truman is survived by his son, Matthew; his grandson, Gavin; his sister, Carol Eagerton; his brother, Kenneth McCord; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Jewel McCord, and his beloved wife, Martha.
Truman will be remembered for his unwavering love, his dedication to his family and friends, and his remarkable contributions to his church, Wounded Warriors, Mercy Ships, and St. Jude Children's Hospital. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May he rest in eternal peace.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday at Leak Memory Chapel at 2pm with a family and friends visitation to be held one hour prior to the service. A Graveside Committal Service will be in Shoal Creek Cemetery in Deatsville, AL immediately following.
