Hunter Alan Chambliss, 24, of Pike Road died suddenly early Sunday morning. He was loved more than words can express by his family and countless friends and his absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him.
Hunter was a great athlete, outdoorsman, and the kind of kid every man would want for a son - a hard worker, and a "yes, sir", "no, sir" kind of guy. His life was defined by his exuberant love for his family and the outdoors. Hunter loved life and shared it fully with those around him. He was especially passionate about his extended family and felt closest to God in a tree stand. He never met a stranger and his fun-loving personality made everyone laugh and feel at ease - no one ever stood alone in a crowded room if Hunter was in it. In his 24 years, Hunter got more out of life than most of us do in a much longer lifetime.
Hunter was born on June 17th, 1993 in Montgomery, the son of Gordon and Lisa (Sharpless) Chambliss. He was a lifetime member of Frazer United Methodist Church and attended Trinity Presbyterian School from kindergarten until his graduation in 2012. Hunter excelled at football and led the Trinity baseball team to a state championship as team captain. He went to Auburn University where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and graduated with a degree in Building Science. Hunter was hired by Brasfield & Gorrie after graduation and was leading a project in Nashville, Tennessee.
Hunter is preceded in death by his grandmother, Ann Chambliss Young. He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Lisa (Sharpless) Chambliss; his brother, Grant Chambliss; his step-sister, Amee Shea (Morgan) Calloway; his grandparents, Pat and Ralph Sharpless; his grandfather, Byron Chambliss; and a large extended family. A celebration service will be held at Frazer United Methodist Church at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, February 7th, with visitation beginning at 12:30 pm. Condolences may be offered at www.leak-mc.com.
