

Jack Young Luke, 87, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015. Jack was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Sylvia Foster Luke. He leaves his loving family, including his sister, Charlotte Luke Pugh; His two daughters and son-in-law, Debbie Brock & Terrye Parrish (J. Kip Parrish) and his grandchildren and their spouses, Jackson Luke Parrish (Michelle) and Taylor Edwar (Joseph). Jack and Sylvia were charter members of Whitfield Memorial United Methodist Church, former members of First United Methodist Church of Tallassee, and present members for First United Methodist Church of Montgomery. Jack served in the US Navy. He worked as a Visual Arts Manager for Sears Roebuck for 44 years. He loved his wife, children, & grandchildren, as well as served his church and community. He was a Scottish Rite Mason, Shriner, and in the Royal Order of Jesters. He designed and built the Children’s Chapel and many holiday pageant sets for First Methodist United Church of Tallassee. He was always willing to help friends and neighbors with their home projects. He left a legacy of carpenters and stain glass craftsmen that he taught over the years. Jack enjoyed his days at Respite of the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery and the friends that he made while residing at Eastdale Estates. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, Leak Memory at 2 PM with the memorial service to follow at the graveside at 3:30 PM, officiated by Ben A. McDonald of First United Methodist Church of Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Respite Ministry at First United Methodist Church, Montgomery.
