James David Churchwell III

Churchwell, James (Jimmy) David III, 75, a long-time resident of Wetumpka, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday July 30, 2025. Private funeral services were held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery, AL with Alan Adams and Daniel Churchwell recollecting treasured times with Jimmy.

He was born to the late James David Churchwell, Jr. and the late Dorothy McLennan Churchwell on March 10, 1950, in Montgomery, AL. Jimmy was preceded in death by his brothers Mark Steven Churchwell and Robert Lee Churchwell. After graduating Montgomery Catholic Preparatory school, he went on to attend John Patterson Technical College to pursue a career in the automotive industry. He went on to become the owner of Forest Hills Garage in Montgomery, AL.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Mitzi S. Churchwell, three sons, James David Churchwell, IV (Geeja), Christopher Scott Churchwell (Andrea), and Jason Lamar Churchwell (Beverly); grandchildren, Chandler Churchwell (Kayla), Mary Grace Hollon (Rhett), Shelby Hill (Hannon), Abygail Churchwell, Allison Churchwell, Ella Kate Churchwell, and Eli Churchwell; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Churchwell, Jameson Churchwell, and Jay Hill; brother, Daniel Churchwell (Linda), sisters Susan Churchwell, and Dorothy Jordan (Michael); bonus grandchildren, Justin Clark (Jamie), Taylor Clark, Landyn Yudez (Patrick), Jarrett Houston (Avery); and a host of nieces and nephews.
