
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Bagley Cox; and his daughter, Carol Lee.
He is survived by his children, Linda (Ray) Baker, Bobby (Betty) Cox, Janet (Barry) Mann, Harold (Debbie) Cox; loving son-in-law, Vic Lee; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
James Cox was born in Montgomery on June 9, 1923 and attended Lanier High School. After graduating he joined the armed forces and served in the South Pacific until the end of WWII. Once he returned to Montgomery he married his high school sweetheart, Helen Bagley, and raised 5 children while being a faithful husband, father, and deacon at Dalraida Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church in Wetumpka, AL. He also enjoyed mission work in the states and overseas, as well as being involved in Baptist Disaster Relief Ministry.
A celebration of his life will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Dr. Charles Hobson, Jr. officiating. The family will begin to accept friends at 9:00 AM, prior to the service. Mr. Cox’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Leak Memory Chapel is directing.
