

James Franklin (Frank) Gibbons, Jr., died at his home with family at his beside Thursday, March 1, 2012. He was born September 5, 1941 to James Franklin Gibbons, Sr. and Edith Moss Gibbons in Montgomery, AL. He graduated from Lee High School where he was an accomplished athlete especially in the sports of baseball and basketball. After graduating, he received an invitation from the Detroit Tigers to play in their minor league system but instead chose to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. He worked for the State of Alabama Dept. of Corrections in the Engineering Division for nearly 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue Stough Gibbons, a son Trey Gibbons of New York, NY; three daughters, Lorie Gibbons Addison (Mike) of Montgomery, AL, Mary Beth Gibbons of Suwanee, GA and Kim Gibbons Brothers (David) of Suwanee, GA; six grandchildren, Ansley Claire and Alex Addison, Cameron, Butler Ann and Aidan Brothers and Abby Gibbons. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel Friday, March 2nd from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 3rd at Frazer United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Salem Macon Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Donald Young, Trey Causey, Carl Tharp, Paul Sims, James Parker, Cameron Brothers and Aidan Brothers. Honorary pallbearers will include members of Frazer UMC Parkinson’s Support Group. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Assoc. of Alabama, P.O. Box 590146, Birmingham, AL 35259. A special thanks to his caregivers Tilda Johnson, Serena Donaldson and the caregivers with Southern Care Hospice.
