

James W. Manley, passed away on March 16, 2022 in Montgomery, AL. He was born in Double Springs, AL on June 29, 1927. He was preceded in death by his parents James W. and Alice Manley; two brothers, Buck and Garfield Manley; four sisters, Willodean Manley, Maxine Stamn, Jimmie Lee Zwerk and Tsiania Bullard.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Ann Brown Manley; three children, Cathy Stevens, John Manley and Heather (Blue) Grier; five grandchildren, Jeff (Elise) Miles, Kirk Miles, Hannah Blue Grier, Rachel (Adam) Quattlebaum and Matthew (Sophie) Stevens; four great grandchildren, Kent, Bodhi and Shep Miles and Phoenix Quattlebaum.
Mr. Manley was an Army Veteran of World War II where he served under General George Patton. An avid fisherman and hunter, he thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors. For many years he drove a truck for W. S. Newell and his CB handle was “Pipe Smoker”. Mr. Manley was a member of Yarbrough Street Baptist Church.
A Celebration of life service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Baptist Hospice.
