

He was born in Montgomery, Alabama on July 5, 1944, to Bonnie Hughes Pridgen and Woodrow Nathaniel Pridgen. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Mindy Leigh Pridgen, brothers, Wilburn Pridgen and Woody Pridgen, and sister, Entis Pridgen Till. He is survived by his fiancé and love of his life , Charlotte Noble, daughter, Ginger Hahn (Clint), granddaughters, Barrett Hammond and Emily Darby, nieces, Kim Davis (Scott), Joan Hunter (Lester), nephews, Donnie Till (Rhonda), David Till, brother-in-law, Donald Till, bonus children, Brad Phillips (Cherry) and Morgan Ellerman (Casey), bonus grandchildren Carleigh, Addie, and Katie, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1962. After attending Auburn University, he went into the steel business. In 1985 he brought his skills and ideas to life and formed Contractors Steel Supply. He has been an inspiration and role model for many. His generosity to those in need was amazing, yet he often supported causes anonymously. James enjoyed golfing, dominoes and spending time with his grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Davis, Wayne Foster, Kevin Harris, Oscar Hooks, Lester Hunter, Shane Kelley, John Simmons and Tony Singleton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Elijah, Clyde Jinright, Jimmy Swink, Ed Thrash, Horace Tillery and the Contractors Steel Employees.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Thorington Road Baptist Church with Brooks Till and Johnnie Wood officiating. Family and Friends visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11 AM.
