Janet Lee Varner, age 73, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Born to Major Earl Blevins and Ruby McCall Blevins, she moved to Montgomery around 1959, later working as a civil engineer for the State of Alabama. She enjoyed statue painting, crochet, music (especially the Beatles), Auburn football, and all animals (dogs, cats, etc.). Janet will be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clem Franklin McCall and Pinkie McCall, Roby Blevins and Phoebe Jones Blevins; her parents, Major Earl and Ruby Blevins; her beloved husband of 35 years, Fred Varner; and her brother, James Earl "Jimmy" Blevins.
Janet leaves behind her children, Aaron Shaun Rooker, Mark Varner, David Kennedy, and Shannon Rooker Blackmore; her grandchildren, Kurt Blackmore, Sith Blackmore, Cole Varner, Kaley Varner, Jordyn Kennedy and Madison Kennedy; and her great grandchild, Zyden Blackmore all to cherish her memory.
A family and friends visitation for Janet will be held Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 1:00 PM at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109. Following the family and friends visitation will be a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109.
