Janice Lillian Cocking

Janice L. Cocking, 84, was born in Acushnet, Massachusetts on January 3, 1940, and passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord in Montgomery, Alabama on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, after a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gordon Cocking, and her daughter, Linda Joyce Cocking McIlwain. Her three children survive her: Donna Elaine Cocking Baldwin (Billy), Robert Alan Cocking (Elizabeth), and Mary Elizabeth Cocking McKee (Mark). Her grandchildren also survive her; Lindsey Paoletto Dawson (Wynne), Lesley Paoletto Lee, Lacey Paeletto Hooper (Ally), Ashley Baldwin Hanger (Chase), Trey Baldwin (Tara), Jessica Cocking Gurlaskie (Tripp), Laura Beth Cocking, Lauren McKee Mendoza (Andrew), Christopher McKee, Shannon McKee, her great-grandchildren: Liam Dawson, Zoe Dawson, Will Kaye, Autumn Kaye, Tyleigh Lightsey, Rider Lightsey, Lily Lee, Ben Lee, Lucy Lee. Landon Hooper, Carson Hooper, Paxton Hooper, Lydia Hooper, and Olive Baldwin, her great-great-grandson; Kamden Burgett, as well as her stepsister, Patricia Tilton.

Janice was a wonderful wife and mother, a devoted Christian, raising all her children in the church and directing the lives of her grandchildren to follow Christ. She was also known by many people for her delicious homemade wedding and birthday cakes and cupcakes.

A memorial service will be held at Fannin Road Baptist Church on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 3525 Fannin Rd, Montgomery, AL 36108. A brief visitation will be held with the family beginning at 10:30 AM.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
