1958-2026
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Dr. Jeffery "Jeff" Wayne Seitzinger, a dedicated surgeon whose skilled hands brought healing to many. He was a passionate tree farmer who nurtured the land and an avid outdoorsman. He passed on March 29, 2026, at the age of 67 surrounded by his wife Sharon and nephew Jonathan.
Jeff lived a life that seamlessly bridged two worlds: the high stakes, sterile environment of the operating room and the grounding, patient work of growing pine trees on our beloved Yellowhammer Plantation. He was born on December 27, 1958, in Freeland, PA to Mary and William O. Seitzinger. Jeff lived a life that was both deeply professional and profoundly adventurous. He spent over thirty years as a surgeon and was double board certified in plastic and hand surgery. He saved numerous lives and his patients loved his compassionate heart. He believed in fixing what was broken, a skill that translated from the operating room to his cherished farm. He was known for his steady hands, his compassion, and the countless lives he mended. He brought that same patience to his trees, often saying "In surgery you fix what is broken, on the farm. you nurture what is to come." Jeff also served as a Lieutenant Commander as a surgeon in the US Navy. He would often selflessly donate to veterans in need.
As a dedicated tree farmer, he was a steward of nature, planting trees that he knew he might never harvest, with a patient eye towards the future and a deep respect for the environment. He loved the quite solitude of our woods and the rewarding labor of land management. Walking on the land, working on it or just sitting and hearing nothing filled his heart with a peace that only nature could provide.
His adventurous spirit led him to the wild spaces of the world. As a big game hunter, Jeff was not just seeking a trophy, but the challenge and companionship found in the back country. He held a deep respect for wildlife and conservation, treating hunting as a way to connect with the raw beauty of nature and testing his endurance in places all over the world.
He is preceded in death by his parents William O. Seitzinger and Mary Seitzinger and his brother William R. Seitzinger.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon, stepdaughter Christina Olson, step granddaughters Rylee, Maddie, and Baylee Olson to whom he loved and spoiled, his brother Richard C. Seitzinger (Linda), sister Lee Ann Dinofrio (Micheal), nephew Jonathan Seitzinger (Jill), William Seitzinger Jr. (Colleen), David Seitzinger (Heather), Richie Seitzinger (Fallon), nieces Rebecca Rinker (Jay), Bonnie Seitzinger, Heidi Seitzinger, Katie Thompson (Carl), and Mariah Wagner (Kyle) and many great nieces and nephews.
His life was a legacy of service, stewardship, and adventure. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will be held on May 30, 2026, at McHugh-Wilczek Funeral Home 249 Centre St, Freeland, Pennsylvania 18224 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a memorial service at 12:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to Tunnels to Tower Foundation or to plant a tree in Jeff's honor.
