Joe is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 58 years, Pat Liner Watkins, his two sons, Joey and Charles, and his brother Tommy. Joe also left behind lots of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that he greatly adored. In addition, his Administrative Manager and right hand of 28 years, Peggy Kilburn.
Joe was a Broker/Owner of RE/Max Tri Star Realty and had a career in real estate for over 50 years. He was past President of the Montgomery Area Association of Realtors and past President of the Lake Martin Board of Realtors. He also served as Area Vice President for the Alabama Association of Realtors.
Joe enjoyed life to the fullest with many friends and work associates and was always willing to help anyone in need. He especially enjoyed SEC football, particularly his beloved Crimson Tide. He also enjoyed golf- with three "holes in one" to his credit.
Joe served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church and as part of the In-Home Service Ministry. He taught Sunday School for over 40 years and had a true servant's heart.
Services will be Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church, 305 South Perry Street, Montgomery, with visitation starting at 9:30 A.M. Officiating will be Dr. Jay Wolf and Pastor Mark Bethea. A burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
The Pallbearer will be nephews Scott Hayes, Josh Watkins, Keith Liner, Kent Liner, and close friends Eddie Stewart and Rick Chavis. Honorary Pallbearers will be all the RE/Max Tri Star family, and members of the Watkins Sunday School Class at FBC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joe's honor to First Baptist Church Caring Center, Flatline Ministries, or WLBF-Faith Radio.
