

John Oseburn David, 95, of Montgomery, AL, passed away on January 26, 2024 after an extended illness. Born on July 10, 1928, in Danville, IL, he was a beloved husband, stepfather, and friend.
Known to his loved ones as "Jack," he served his country with honor and dedication. Jack served two years in the United States Army in Korea during the Korean War. His Military Occupational Specialty was Combat Engineer. His military decorations, badges, citations and campaign ribbons awarded included: National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Korean Service Medal. Jack's commitment to his military associations and fellow veterans was unwavering.
Jack will be deeply missed by his spouse, Barbara Rose David, and his stepchildren, Wes McNair, Mark McNair, Leigh Smeltzer, Melanie Key, Angie Williams, Kim Williams, and Greg Williams. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Fred David, and his mother, Lorena VanTuyle David.
The impact Jack made during his lifetime will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him. He was a proud alumnus of Auburn University and a graduate of Jones Law Institute. His career was spent primarily with Alabama Power Company. He was a dedicated member of the Alcazar Shrine Temple. In his lengthy retirement, he enjoyed traveling with Barbara, fishing, camping, and time with the family. His unwavering commitment to his family, and his warm and caring nature will forever be cherished.
A visitation will be held Wednesday morning at 9:00am followed by a Celebration of Jack's life and legacy at 10:00 Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL. 36109. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to a veteran's organization of your choice in Jack's memory.
