John A. Young, a beloved, hard-working, and resilient individual, passed away on November 20, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on August 13, 1956, in Montgomery, Alabama, John spent his entire life in the city he loved.
John was a dedicated plumber with AMCO, where he built a career marked by diligence and expertise. His professional life was a testament to his commitment and work ethic.
He was married to Brenda Sue Young for 31 years, and together they raised a family. After Brenda's passing, John found companionship and love with Debra Vannessa Ellis, who was his faithful partner for the last 16 years of his life.
John was a huge Alabama fan and enjoyed the thrill of Nascar races. He also took great pleasure in watching all episodes of the Andy Griffith Show, finding joy in its timeless humor and charm.
John is survived by his beloved companion, Debra Vannessa Ellis, and his daughters, Nichole Young (Raymond Coker) and Ashley Young. He also leaves behind his brother William "Bill" Young (Kim Young), brother Timmy Ragsdale (Jenny Ragsdale), and five cherished grandchildren. Additionally, he is remembered by the daughters and grandchildren of Debra Vannessa Ellis. John was predeceased by his wife Brenda Sue Young, his stepfather Robert Ragsdale, his mother Katie Killough Ragsdale, his sister Brenda Gail Young, and his sister Rita Ragsdale.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at Leak Memory Chapel, located at 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama, on November 29, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life Graveside service will follow at Berea Cemetery, Old Merriweather Trail, LaPine, Alabama, starting at 12:30 pm.
Pallbearers honoring John will be Raymond Coker, R J Coker, Dezman Smith, Rob Young, Cody Young, and Tatum Duke.
