

BURNS, Mrs. Juanita Louise Starr, 66, a resident of Montgomery, died Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Visitation will be Monday, July 16, 2012 from 5-7 pm at White Chapel Funeral Home. A funeral service, officiated by Fr. Michael Sreboth, will be held at Our Lady Queen of Mercy Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, officiated by Pastor Brad Sullivan. Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her father and mother, John Carroll Starr, Sr. and Mary Louise Townes Starr, her brother-in-law and sister, Lawrence Hubert Hill, Sr. and Mary Etta Starr Hill, her sister-in-law, Rebecca "Becky" Sullivan Starr, her brothers-in-law, Lawrence Dennis Burns and James Edward Burns. She is survived by her loving husband, Colonel Jerald Charles Burns, her daughter and son-in-law, Matthew Joseph Shoemaker and Mary Carroll Burns Shoemaker, her son and daughter-in-law, Jerald Charles Burns, Jr. and Marguerite Peters Kahn Burns and her two grandchildren, John David Tillman Burns and Marguerite England Burns, her brother and sister-in-law, John Carroll Starr, Jr. and Barbara Thompson Starr, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Michael Paul Burns and Rose Marie Klem Burns, Thomas William Burns and Rozella E. Turner-Burns, Mark Crain Sanders and Maureen Ann Burns Sanders and sister-in-law, Margaret Kathryn Johnson. Pallbearers will be Charles Bradford Cooper II, Lawrence Herbert Hill, Jr., John Brant Hill, Bryan Keith Kelley, Matthew Allen Moore, John Carroll Starr III, Robert Horace Starr and Daniel Spencer Starr. Mrs. Burns was born in Montgomery, AL on January 25, 1946. She was married on September, 2, 1967 at Our Lady Queen of Mercy Catholic Church. She was a 1967 second generation graduate of St. Margaret's School of Nursing. She was most recently an intern Master Gardener and became a member of the Peter Fortney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 2009. She was a florist in the later years of her life and had a love of gardening and flower arranging. She was awarded many beautification awards from the military while her husband served different tours of duty. She was a dutiful military wife, loving and caring mother and doting grandmother. She regularly attended Vaughn Park Church of Christ and loved her small group bible study. Flowers are welcome. White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
