Kim Wendling Russell, born June 24, 1955, peacefully transitioned into her Heavenly home on October 22, 2025. Kim is survived by her devoted husband, Scott Russell; her son, Jason (Julie) Peel, daughter-in-law, Andrea Peel; five wonderful grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her siblings, Pam (Jeff) Dorminey, and Jerry (Diane) Wendling; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, David Peel; her sister, Terri Long; and her parents, Jerry and Betty Wendling.
Kim worked her entire career in the insurance industry and retired in 2018 from Assured Partners. A woman of deep and abiding Christian faith, Kim was an active, faithful member of the Frazer Church family and loved supporting its backpack ministry, dedicating countless hours to ensuring “her kids” were protected from food insecurity. Her greatest joy in life was her family – Kim was affectionately known as “Granny” to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She created countless cherished memories hosting lively 4th of July pool parties and warm holiday gatherings, making every occasion special with her wonderful cooking and much-loved recipes. Kim especially adored the Christmas season, when her home became a warm reflection of her generous spirit, always meticulously decorated to create a joyful space for family and friends to gather. Whether she was relaxing at the beach or passionately cheering “War Eagle” for her Auburn Tigers, Kim’s spirit and love for life were a gift to all who knew her.
