

RAWLINSON, Robert “Lamar”, 86 a life-long Montgomery resident, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 8, 2014. His Visitation will be Monday, May 12, 2014, at 1 PM at Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church, followed by his Funeral Service at 2 PM, with Dr. John Ed Mathison officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Preceding him in death were his parents, Dayton, Sr. and Thelma Rawlinson; two brothers, Dayton Rawlinson, Jr., and Karl Rawlinson. Mr. Rawlinson is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Virginia Rawlinson; three daughters, Dianne “Kim” Rawlinson, Jan Steele (Steve), and Nancy Brown (Steve); four grandchildren, Diane (Adam) Brett, Scott Steele, Lindsay Steele, & Katie Reynolds; two great-grandchildren, Hayley Steele & Alexis Lauderdale, all of Montgomery; a sister, Annette Brownell (Pat) of Prattville; a brother, Harry Rawlinson (Katie Jo) of Alex City, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lamar enjoyed a long life of service and education, beginning with his graduation from Starke University School, followed by his service in the U.S. Navy as a medical corpsman, and then graduating from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Commerce & Business Administration. Lamar began his career in real estate with Aronov Realty in the early 1960’s, then formed his own private real estate company, Rawlinson Realty, and then bought the first Century 21 Realty franchise in Montgomery, Alabama. Lamar was an inspiration to his many friends and family, particularly his exercise group at Arrowhead Country Club. He was an avid golfer and had a life-long passion for playing his trumpet. Pallbearers will be Scott Steele, Johnny Brownell, Robert Brownell, Zach Brownell, Alex Brownell, & Richard Rawlinson.
