She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Dennie Rewis; her siblings, Doris Cousins, Dean Casey, and Jimmie Smith. A charter member of Claud Independent Methodist Church and later a member of Perry Hill Road United Methodist Church, Lois retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after 36 years of service as a branch administrator. A true friend to many people from all walks of life, she was known for her presence at significant events and sent birthday, anniversary and holiday cards. Known as the fun Aunt, Lois delighted in family reunions and time with her nieces and nephews. A great cook for friends and family, Lois also enjoyed gospel music and drove groups of friends to concerts and gospel sings.
Dennie and Lois were very involved with the Montgomery Motor Speedway. A charter member of the Central Alabama Women's Racing Auxiliary(CAWRA), she worked at the pit gate and donated half of her salary to the Auxiliary. However, the Rewis' connection didn't end with Montgomery. They were friends with the Allison family (especially Davey) and even had an event named after them, "The Dennie and Lois Rewis 100." Lois received the first B. J. Parker Racing Ambassador Award because of her love for racing and her promotion of the sport. She will be deeply missed by all her racing friends.
