Lonnie Watkins

Lonnie Watkins, age 79, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Lonnie was born in Montgomery, Alabama to Lewie Alonzo Watkins Sr. and Sally Mae Watkins. From loading trucks, driving trucks and scheduling routes, he learned the freight business from the bottom up and spent his life moving freight from one place to another. He enjoyed fishing, hanging out with friends and family and watching westerns. He loved his family more than anything.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, Sally Mae and Lewie Alonzo Watkins and a beloved son-in-law, Bert Baisden. He is survived by his children, Donnie Watkins, Barbi Lynne Watkins and Lea-Ann Watkins Baisden; his grandchildren, Sydnee, Zadie, and D.J. Watkins, Blake Watkins and Andrew Watkins; and his great grandchildren, Riley, Gauge, Mary and Blakely.

A friends and family visitation for Lonnie will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 2:00 PM. Service will conclude with a burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
