Lorene Walker Newman

At the age of 8 years old, her family moved to Boylston, Alabama. She attended school at Chisholm Elementary and Capitol Heights.

She married Elliott I. D. Newman and they had three children, Richard, Rita and Randall.

She and Elliott were married over 50 years before his death in 1992. Lorene worked in the grocery and food business for many years. Her last position was as manager of several cafeterias in various State buildings. (Folsom Bldg., Gordon Pearson's Bldg., Health Dept. Bldg., State Hwy. Bldg.) She retired at the age of 75.

She lived alone in her garden home until the week after Christmas. She enjoyed time with her Grandchildren:

Debbie Lynn, Sherry Guyton, Lori Lawrence, Doug Newman and Tony Newman.

She also cherished her Great Grandchildren:

Lacy Lynn, Madison Newman, Robert Guyton, Jr., Nathan Lawrence, Douglas Newman, Dustin Newman, and Micah Lawrence

There are several very special friends:

Pauline Walker, Polly Lynn, Pauline Cole, Shirley Keesey, Judy Smith, Mavis Culp and Peggy Hall.

Visitation will be held at the Beacon of Hope Church of God, 1045 Coliseum Blvd., Montgomery, AL 36109 from 12 noon until 2:00PM on Thursday, January 19, 2017 with a service at 2:00PM. The graveside will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
