Guy, Margie Cox, 93, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, April 20, 2020. She was born on November 25, 1926 to Clayton and Lucy Robards Cox. She was the youngest of 8 children, growing up in Montgomery during the Depression and then WW2. She attended Sidney Lanier High School when all of the young men were heading off to war. She met and fell in love with Paul Guy, whom she married on May 31, 1945. They were married until 1999 when he passed away. She was also predeceased by a son, Chuck Guy; son-in-law, Jerry Burton; and grandson, Dennis Paul Burton. Visitation (with social distancing) will be at Leak Memory Chapel on Friday, April 24, 2020 from 11:00-12:00 with a private family graveside service immediately following with Dr. Temon Knight officiating. Perhaps her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved us all unconditionally and completely. Her surviving children include Dianne Russell (Earl), Carol Burton, Burt Guy, and Debbie Guy. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She always thought every baby was the prettiest baby she had ever seen. She made each one think he or she was her favorite without ever showing any favoritism… a hard thing to do!!
Margie was the perfect example of how a Christian should live. She was modest, steadfast in her faith and never left any doubt in our minds about her beliefs. She always saw the good in every situation and in every person. One of her favorite sayings was, “It’ll all work out for the best.” It was her mantra and she was always right. Her sweet smile would light up any room, even when she was sick. We will miss her every day, but we all know she’s so happy in Heaven. She has left us with a legacy that will sustain us until we see her again on the other side.
