

Marjorie Laubenthal Mitchell, 92, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, died peacefully after a brief illness, Monday, March 2, 2015. She had a profound impact on her family as a loving mother, a devoted wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born in Athens, Alabama, on July 11, 1922. She was preceded in death by her parents Harry Leslie Laubenthal and Lila Jane(Hayes), Verd Venton Mitchell, her husband of 66 years, and sister, Lila Christine (Chris) Laubenthal Grafton and brother-in-law Edward G. Grafton, M.D., sister-in-law Monta Mitchell Scott and brother-in-law Charles (Charlie) Scott. She attended First Christian Church and then, for over 30 years attended Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church where she and Verd participated in the Jack Thompson Sunday School Class. She is survived by one daughter, Marjorie Ann Mitchell McPhaul (Don); grandsons Jeffrey Martin McPhaul (Jessica), Mitchell Alan McPhaul all of Dallas, TX, and Andrew Farnsworth McPhaul (Angela), of Charlotte, NC; and one son, Stephen Venton Mitchell (Nancy Scott), Montgomery, AL; granddaughters Dana Mitchell Zaworski (John), Andrea Mitchell Center (Stephen), Marjorie Ann Mitchell Davis (Joey), all of Atlanta, GA; sister-in-law Jane Bridgman, Nashville, TN; brother-in-law Harry “Buddy” Laubenthal (Barbara) of Athens, AL; great grandchildren Lauren Christine McPhaul, Bennett Charles McPhaul of Dallas; Christian Alexander McPhaul, Nicholas Mateo McPhaul, and Andrew Christopher of Charlotte, NC, and Ben Louis Zaworski of Atlanta; nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren. The family will hold a private memorial service to celebrate her life on March 9, 2015, with Dr. Tim Thompson, Senior Pastor, Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church officiating.
