Whittle, Mary Frances, passed away on Feb. 1, 2011, after an extended hospitalization, but also a glorious life of friends, family, travel and compassion for others. A Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 4, at 2 p.m. at Leak-Memory Chapel, with a visitation at the funeral home an hour prior to the service. Anyone wishing to make a contribution in Ms. Whittle’s honor should direct it to First Presbyterian Church, 9299 Vaughn Rd, Pike Road, AL 36064. Ms. Whittle is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Davis Whittle and Mary Emily Bates Whittle and her grandparents, William Franklin Bates and Lilla Hammonds Bates and William Holloway Whittle and Theodocia "Docia" Barganier Whittle. She is survived by her cousins, Eleanor Lane Cruise, William C. Bates, Jr., Iris Whittle Graddy Williams, William Otto Whittle, along with numerous other cousins.
