Mary Eleanor McLennan Woodall, age 87, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Prattville, Alabama. Born on July 23, 1938, in Montgomery, Alabama, Mary lived a life rooted in love, devotion, and unwavering commitment to her family.
Mary was the cherished daughter of David Charles Sr. and Eleanor Louise McLennan. She grew up surrounded by a close-knit family that instilled in her the values of kindness, loyalty, and faith principles she carried with her throughout her life.
She shared nearly six decades of marriage with her beloved husband Joe M. Woodall. Their union of 59 years stood as a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together they built a home filled with warmth and laughter, raising two children and later welcoming grandchildren and great-grandchildren into their lives. Mary’s and Joe’s love story was marked by a tender phrase they often exchanged: “I love you forever and ever and ever and three days.” Those words now echo as a lasting symbol of their eternal bond. It brings comfort to those who loved them to believe they are now gloriously reunited in Heaven.
Mary was a devoted mother to her daughter Lisa Parmer (Wayne) and her late son Joseph M. Woodall. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren—Lindsay Crum (Ryan), Grady Woodall, Katie Woodall, and Daniel Woodall (Aleah)—and to her three great-grandchildren—Mason Crum, Emilia Woodall and Acey Woodall—who brought immense joy into her later years.
She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Lou Chambers; sister-in-law Doris McLennan (David II); and many nieces and nephews whose lives were touched by her gentle presence. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Robert McLennan, Dorothy Churchwell (James), and David Charles II; as well as by her dear husband Joe and son Joseph.
May the memory of Mary McLennan Woodall bring peace to all who knew her and serve as a reminder of the enduring power of love shared across generations.
Mary’s family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the kindness and gentle care provided by the nurses and staff of Amedisys Hospice during her illness.
A Visitation will be held on December 21, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road., Montgomery, AL and a Graveside Service will be held immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery.
