Patricia Ellen Phaturos

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Patricia Ellen Harris Phaturos, most lovingly known as “Mimi”. She was born Nov 22, 1937, and died Jan 2, 2026, in Montgomery AL. Throughout her 88 years she never met a stranger and welcomed everyone warmly and lovingly.

Always up for a get together, whether over a meal, a shopping excursion, or sporting event, you could count on her to be the last to say goodnight. Her favorite running buddies and playmates were most definitely her grandchildren, and they were mutually delighted to spend time with her.

Mimi’s playful, childlike nature was one of her most endearing qualities and brought her family and friends rich laughter and epic stories to share over the years. She enjoyed any opportunity to be with her family and never shied away from joining in the fun and games. We carry that legacy of joy and family connection forward in honor and remembrance of our Mimi.

To know Mimi was to know she was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide…from her Alabama insignia sunglasses, to the crimson red color of her vehicle, to the “Yea Alabama” ringtone on her phone, to the Rammer Jammer artwork in her den, to the Alabama themed tree that stayed up year round…she was completely unapologetic in her passion for her team. And she successfully passed that passion along to the overwhelming majority of her family (yes, there are a few who shall not be named nor ever ostracized for their rebellion).

She is survived by her five children, Russell (Tracee) Phaturos, Gail (Stan) Cope, Laurie Rapp, Randy (Jan) Phaturos, and Ricky (Tina) Phaturos. Mimi is also survived by her eleven grandchildren, Meghan (Tony) Kestle, Jason Gosdin, Martin (Jessica) Cope, Taylor (Whitney) Phaturos, Lindsey Cope, Shayna (Cory) Spearman, Joshua (Mitchell) Rapp, Amee (Mitch) Roberson, Alyssa (Scott) Parker, Ricky (Samantha) Phaturos, and Reid Phaturos (Hannah). She is survived by twenty great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Kestle, Dalen Cope, Collin Roberson, Hannah Croy, Braxton Roberson, Karlee Gosdin, AJ Kestle, Maddie Croy, Landyn Gosdin, Hampton Cope, Ellery Spearman, Taylor Croy, Cooper Elmore, Kinsley Parker, Whit Cope, Braelynn Parker, Charlotte Kestle, Charlotte Cope, Adalynn Kestle, and Bryson Roberson. Additional loved ones include great great grandson Ace Gosdin, nieces Lynn Campbell and Leigh Kincer, and nephews Edwin (Lauren) Robertson and Tripp Harris.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, John T. (Buster) Phaturos, Jr.; her parents Nelle Taylor Harris and John David Harris, Sr.; her sister Barbara Harris Robertson and her brother John David Harris, Jr.

Service will be held Thursday, January 8th at 2:00 pm at Leak-Memory Chapel in Montgomery AL with Pastor Chad Boak officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday, January 8th from 1:00 pm until the time of service.

Pallbearers are Jason Gosdin, Martin Cope, Taylor Phaturos, Joshua Rapp, Cory Spearman, Ricky Phaturos and Reid Phaturos.
