Richard Erwin Babington

March 24,1933- July 15, 2023

Dick Babington, a member and elder emeritus of Trinity Presbyterian Church, also served in the United States Navy. Mr. Babington worked for and was CEO of The Moffitt Company. He was active for many years in the following civic business affairs around Montgomery, Children’s Harbor, Young Life, Colonial Bank, The Montgomery Country Club and The Greater Montgomery Rose Society. He truly enjoyed growing beautiful roses and flowers and sharing them with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Neville Moffitt Babington, and his 4 children, Susan Babington Wainwright (Sam Jr) Richard Moffitt Babington (Susan), Kristina Babington Deloach (Tom) and Conoley Babington Wilson (Darick); grandchildren Sam Wainwright III (Mary-Katherine), Caleb Babington (Natalie), John Babington (Julia), Marlee Brooks (Caleb), Jessica Coiro (Connor) ; great grandchildren Huss Wainwrght IV, Leroy Wainwright, Robert Babington, John Paul Babington, Lila Babington and Millie Deloach; brother Tom Babington (Mary); sister; Sally Babington Chastain (Dicky).

The family owes a special thanks to long term caregivers, Brenda Miles, Liz Butler, Faye Lewis, Katherine Coyne for the love and professional carte each of these individuals gave to Mr. Babington over the years.

A private family graveside service for Richard will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church at 12 noon with family and friends visitation beginning at 11am.
