Robert G. Gourlay

Bob retired after 30 years with Bendix Corporation and after 15 years with Montgomery Waterworks. He was a faithful member and greeter at First Baptist Church for 38 years, and a longtime member of the College Hill Masonic Lodge. Bob enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, two Brothers, and a Sister.

Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley Gourlay; son, Thomas Gourlay (Alicia); daughter, Tammy Johnson (Richard); son, Timothy Gourlay (Billie Rae); and grandchildren, Rob Gourlay, Daniel Gourlay, Ashley Johnson, Brittney Johnson, Kenzie Gourlay, Annslie Gourlay, and Cidney Johnson.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 2:30pm at First Baptist Church Stakely Sanctuary with a Celebration of Life following at 3:30pm, led by Jay Wolf. Pallbearers to include: Bill Lambert, Larry Lott, Dale Moncrief, Keith Yarborough, Rob Gourlay, and Daniel Gourlay; Honorary Pallbearers: Members of the Poundstone Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montgomery Cancer Center, First Baptist Caring Center, or Amedisys Hospice.

We would like to extend special thanks to our family and friends at First Baptist Church and the staff of Amedisys for their excellent care.
