Robert Brant Leavell

Robert B. Leavell (Bob) a lifelong resident of Montgomery, Alabama was born April 17, 1918 and died January 24, 2017 at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Leavell joined 2nd Baptist Church (now Eastmont Baptist Church) in 1930. He was a hard worker, a business man and an entrepreneur his entire life. As an 8 year old child, he sold newspapers and popcorn balls in front of Chris’s hotdogs. He started his own grocery business at age 17. He is the founder of Leavell Banking Company in 1946 and became a real estate developer and started several other businesses. At age 90, he became proficient on the computer.

He is Past Master of Andrew Jackson Lodge No. 173, Past Potentate of Alcazar Shrine Temple, ABC Administrator for the State of Alabama, Civil Air Patrol Captain and member of the Merchant Marines.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Winnie Miers Pinson, father, Robert B. Leavell, step-father, P. A. Pinson, and first wife, Sybil McDonald Leavell.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lucille Esco Leavell, children, Donald M. Leavell (Anna), Barry C. Leavell (Laura) and Barbara L. Kelly (Clint); grandchildren : David Leavell (Angela), Dr. Jane Leavell, Dr. Paul Leavell (Kristin); Clay Leavell (Jennifer), Robb Leavell (Laura), Hallie L. Musgrove (Michael); Kevin Kelly (Stephanie) and Michael Kelly, 10 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

Pallbearers: Paul Leavell, Clay Leavell, Robb Leavell, Michael Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Michael Musgrove and David Leavell.

Funeral Service will be held at Leak Memory chapel on Friday January 27, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Northcutt and Rev. Clay Leavell officiating. Visitors one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made be to Eastmont Baptist Church.
