Ruth Gray Godwin, 91, passed away October 23, 2025. She was born on March 13,1934 in Birmingham, AL. Ruth was proceeded in death by her husband, Jim Godwin, grandsons, Grant Singleton and Gray Godwin, son-in-law Slade Singleton and daughter-in-law, Holly Godwin.
After graduation from Phillips High School, Ruth then received a degree from The University of Alabama, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority and The Million Dollar Band.
She earned a masters degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and became the 19th registered physical therapist in the state of Alabama.
The Godwins were married for 54 years. Ruth came to a saving knowledge of Christ at a young age. She and her husband, Jim, were faithful members of Eastwood Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her 5 children: Bill Godwin, Rob (Beth) Godwin, Angie (Johnny) Stallings, Tony (Beverly) Godwin, and Beth (Mark) Kidd; grandchildren: Catherine (Andy) Hebert, Will (Alexandra) Godwin, Sarah Elizabeth (Trey) Jackson, Mary Kate Godwin, Thomas (Sarah Kathryn) Stallings, Wesley Stallings, Cleve (Maryl) Godwin, Anna Godwin, Erin (Jordan) Long, Connor Singleton, and Griffin Singleton; 10 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law, Merle Flournoy.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Monday, October 27, 2025, at Eastwood Presbyterian Church, Montgomery, Alabama, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am.
