Ruth Mae Ray

Ruth M. Ray, 95, was born in Randolph County Alabama on September 8, 1920. She passed at her home in Montgomery Al on February 18, 2016. She was a faithful member of St. James United Methodist Church for over 50 years in the Hazel Collins and Friendship Sunday School classes and the Lurleen B. Wallace Missionary Society.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years Wash Bishop (Sonny) Ray.

She is survived by a sister, Hazel Studdard of Atlanta; Son, Bishop H. Ray (Susan) of Montgomery, daughter, Brenda Spiga, of Montgomery. Grandchildren, Heather Lavigne (David), of Cartersville, Ga, John Palmer Ray ( Robin) of Calera Al, Ethan Spiga of Montgomery and Lowell Spiga of Montgomery, and great grandchildren Christopher Lavigne and Luke and Leah Ponder.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her special caregiver for over 7 years Susie Elem.

Sherelle Anderson, Stephanie Gray and Hospice of Montgomery also serve to provide comfort and care in her final days.

Funeral Services will be officiated by Walter Albritton and Allen Newton and will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 10:00 at Leak Memory Chapel with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The Family will receive visitors one hour before the celebration of her life in the Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Montgomery and St. James United Methodist Church.
