Sally Suarez Bishop, age 81, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021. Sally was born July 3, 1940 in Mississippi to Aubrey Adrian Lewis and Imogene Hammond Lewis. Sally is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Aubrey Adrian Lewis Jr. and Betty Lewis McCutcheon; her husband Everett L. Bishop and her son Aubrey Lewis Regalo. She is survived by her son Vicente M. Regalo; granddaughter Jasmine Regalo; her brother James H. Lewis; and well as nieces and nephews Adrian Walker, Willis McCutcheon V, Margaret Gladden, James Kevin Lewis, Kim Fulford as well as her extended family Monica, Paul, Shannon, Colleen Driscoll; Jeanie, Darrin, Sean Federspill and the entire McBride family.
Sally earned a bachelors in biology from Huntington College and later a masters from the University of Alabama. She was the first Peace Corp volunteer from Montgomery, AL serving 2 years in Thailand. Mrs. Bishop worked in several labs within Alabama before she decided to dedicate her life to caring for children and becoming "Grandma Sally."
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the care and compassion showed Mrs. Bishop by the ER and CVICU staff at Baptist South as well as Father Alex Valladares and Father Connor Plessala and the rest of the office staff at St. Bede's. Gifts in Sally's memory may be shared with St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church.
A rosary service for Sally will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St Bede Catholic Church, 3870 Atlanta Highway, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a Memorial Mass service at 11:00 AM.
