Sincere and deepest gratitude to Silas’ niece, Tammy Ballard, for the compassionate and dedicated care she provided 7 days a week over the last year and a half. Your care, loving kindness and presence brought immense comfort and peace to Silas and to his family during a very difficult time. We will never forget your selfless caregiving. We want to also thank Mark McDaniel, another compassionate and dedicated caregiver, who assisted with Silas’ care and was a great support and friend to Silas, as well as Tammy. Many thanks to Elaine Turner, family and friend to Silas, who assisted tirelessly with procuring VA assistance/benefits, visited with Silas often, assisted with his doctor visits, always coming when needed, and was a very dear friend to him. Another heartfelt thanks to Barbara Middleton, a sweet neighbor and very dear friend to Silas over the years. Her visits, drop-ins with food (especially the sweets Silas enjoyed), words of encouragement and support (always coming when needed) during Silas’ decline was appreciated so much.
