Sylvia Mills McComas

Sylvia Mills McComas, 83, went to be with the Lord on September 13,2022. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 3:00 pm at White Chapel Greenwood with Reverend Mike Golson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Mrs. McComas’s life was a living example of her faith in God and leaving the world in a better place because she lived. She was a "Mom" to many and affectionately known as "Monkey" by her family and loved ones. She was born and raised in Luverne, Alabama. She was employed by the State of Alabama for over 39 years. She loved volunteering at Baptist South Hospital as well as attending Sunday School and church at Catoma Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents Aubrey Felix and Mavin Mills. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years Samuel J. McComas. In addition to her husband and best friend Sam, she is survived by her brother Daniel Aubrey Mills and sisters Lana Diane Jones and Marilyn Akins (David). Sylvia had a large extended family with special and loving individuals and their families. Becky Butler Lee, Dianne Butler Eiland, Kelly Butler, Scott Butler and Teresa Casey Pittman.

Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Lee, Daryl Boyett, Donnie Graham, Gary Graham and Wayne Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class at Catoma Baptist Church.

The family would like to express their sincere love and thankfulness to Ms. Gandy (Answered Prayers) for her loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catoma Baptist Church, 4300 Old Selma Road, Montgomery, Al 36108. White Chapel Greenwood directing.
