Thomas Melvin Bowen

Thomas Melvin Bowen passed away Monday, September 21, 2020 of natural causes at his home in Montgomery. He was born to Carl Henderson Bowen Sr. and Marion Lee Jones Bowen on February 20, 1925 in South Norfolk, Virginia. He was a member of the Panama Street Church of Christ and an honorably discharged veteran of WW II where he served in the Aleutian Islands. As a result of his service, he lost his eyesight shortly after returning home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Carl Henderson Bowen Jr., His first wife Elizabeth “Liz” Anne Fink and his second wife Martha Lou England, his oldest son Thomas Bowen Jr. and Steven Rowe.

He is survived by his sons Terry (Jane) Bowen of Bradenton, FL; Melvin (Susan) Bowen of Moreland, GA; Barry Bowen of Montgomery, AL; Mark (Jan) Rowe of Huntsville, AL; Jim (Bonnie) Rowe of Cookeville, TN; his daughters Katie (David) Skelton of Childersburg, AL; and Karen (Jeff) Clayton of Birmingham, AL as well as 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many dear family/friends who called him “PawPaw” and “D.”
