Tillman Edward Simmons

Tillman Edward Simmons went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 1, 2014. Tillman was born May 15, 1934 in Harpersville, AL His death was due to complications from a precious stroke in 2012. Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 11:00 - 11:45 AM at Leak Memory Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM noon at the funeral home chapel with Bro. Eddie Gillenwater officiating. Committal services will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Bessie Simmons; 2 brothers, Nathan and Wallace Simmons; sister, Elouise Hall; grandson, Scott Simmons; and great grandson, Eli Green. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Vernice Simmons; 4 children, Clarence Simmons, Tommy (Judi) Simmons, Mike Simmons, and Lisa Simmons; brother, Jack Simmons; sister, Allene Dutton; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.Tillman was retired from the State of Alabama Department of Mental Health. He was an avid outdoorsman and a 20 year member of Eastern Oaks Baptist Church. He was a believer in Jesus Christ and a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. Pallbearers are Dusty Simmons, Logan Simmons, Ryne Guthrie, Matt Simmons, Jake Simmons, and Greg Parrish. Honorary pallbearers are Jessica Bern, Kalyn Guthrie, Amy Simmons, Baily Cannon, and Parker Crosby.
