Valerie Lynn (Johnson) Treat

Valerie was born on September 27, 1964, to Robert (Bob) L. and Cleta L. Johnson as their first child. Valerie graduated from Pearl City High School in 1981. She earned her college degree from Faulkner University.

She worked for the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine from 1992 to 2015 as the financial officer for both the Montgomery and Selma locations. She then went to work for Renal Associates of Montgomery at the Practice Administrator from 2015 to 2020. She was a tireless advocate for teaching, mentoring, and facilitating all the staff and physicians. She was the President of Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and active member for many years. Prior to her diagnosis of leukemia, she aspired to further her education to become a professor.

Valerie fell in love with William (Billy) Treat, marrying in 2013. They joined their family together with her son Robert Anthis (33) and his daughters, Kasey Treat Schmidt (33) and Kayla Treat (33). Prior to meeting her husband, she devoted her energy and deep love for her son, Robbie.

After retirement, Valerie devoted her time and energy deepening her relationship with God. She was active in her Bible study group and was a beloved member of the Journey Church of the River Region. She also loved to travel. She was an active volunteer and donor to the Adullam House and Arkansas State University HOWL Transition Program.

Valerie was predeceased by her parents, Bob and Cleta Johnson. She is survived by her husband, Billy Treat, her son, Robert Anthis, her stepdaughters, Kasey Treat Schmidt and Kayla Treat, her brother, Jeffrey Johnson, and her nephews, Rory and Caleb Johnson and her sister, Kristin Johnson. Services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday – April 16th at 2:00pm, followed by a graveside service. A visitation for Valerie will be held Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
