

Wesley Emitt Calhoun passed away peacefully in Fairhope, AL surrounded by his caring family on October 21, 2022, at the age of 79. Wesley was born to John and Miriam Calhoun on November 7th, 1942, in Notasulga, AL. After Graduating high school, Wesley joined the Alabama Army National Guard and served full-time for 35 years reaching the rank of Colonel. After his retirement, Wesley and his wife traveled America in their “home on wheels”.
Wesley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Calhoun. Son - Keith (Lisa) Calhoun. Daughter - Dawn Calhoun. Grandchildren – Abigail, Caleb, Lauren, Gabrielle, and Annah.
Wesley was known for compassion and a kind soul, consideration of others before himself. He was the best father one could wish for and had a way of making everyone feel like they were best friends. Wesley had a “Big-Heart” always kind and generous to other people, and always willing to help them.
Wesley is preceded in death by his father John Calhoun and mother Miriam Shaver Calhoun.
A family and friends visitation for Wesley will be held Friday, October 28, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 11:00 AM. Services will conclude with a graveside in Greenwood Cemetery.
