

William Winford Peavy, age 85, of Wetumpka, Alabama passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021. William was born April 3, 1936 to Adolph and Clara Peavey. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Adolph Merrel Peavey and sister Winnie Faye Holt. He is survived by his wife Lela Peavy; his sons Mike (Cindy) Peavy and Jerry Peavy; his daughters Nancy (Larry) Thomas and Penny Peavy; his step son Wesley Bullard; 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and 2 sisters Genie Ruth Hudson and Joyce Wiley; as well as a host of neices, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Bill was the founder of A & P Auto Service, Inc. that he built with his former wife of 53 years, Gladys Smith. He was an avid farmer and owned a cattle ranch (Peavy Farms). He loved overseeing his cows and was a member of the Cattlemen's Association. Mr. Peavy was also active within Alcazar Shriners. Bill will be rememebered as one who loved people and enjoyed life.
Pallbearers will be Jack Luna, Sherman Deal, David Findley, Heith McCracken, Mikey Peavy and Jon Ashley Amison with honorary pallbearer, Hillard Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alcazar Shiners are encouraged.
A visitation for Bill will be held Friday, October 1, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 2:00 PM. Services will conclude with a graveside in Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens.
